Baltimore Playwrights Festival Presents Abraham & Isaac, Opens 8/11

By:

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival (www.baltplayfest.com) announces the August 11th opening of Abraham & Isaac, by Steve Schulze, to be produced by Theatrical Mining Company at Le Clerc Hall, College of Notre Dame, 4701 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21210. Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm, through August 28th. Reservations are recommended, and may be made on-line at www.originalplays.com/tmc, or by calling 410-710-8166.

Directed by Barry Feinstein, Abraham & Isaac takes place in the wake of a Columbine-like shooting when Charles Barrow, whose daughter has been killed, captures the one shooter who fled the scene, secrets him in a remote hunting camp, and abandons him in a dry well to die. His return to rescue the boy results in their isolation together at the camp, a dangerously volatile situation that ends for Charlie in a near-mystical state of compassion.

Steve Schulze is a Zoo Keeper (true), former teacher, former laborer, former many things. He turned to writing stage plays several years ago, after a lifetime of apprenticeship in other literary forms. He has been married 27 years.

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival is celebrating its 30th season, and has presented 266 scripts by 158 playwrights, produced by 25 different companies, over the past 29 Years. This season we are presenting seven new plays at five different theaters, running July 8th through September 4th. Further information can be found at www.baltplayfest.com.
