BLOODLINES Plays As Part Of Baltimore Playwright's Festival 6/18-7/5

By:

As part of the 28th season of the Baltimore Playwright's Festival, the Fells Point Corner Theatre will present Bloodlines, a new play by Maryland playwright, Daniel Baum, June 18 - July 5, 2009. Performances will be held Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m.

Set near Baltimore, Bloodlines follows the plight of a young college student, Sarah Friedman, home for spring break to celebrate Passover. Sarah's definition of herself is called into question as family secrets and long-held grudges are revealed. Her father's absence, the addition of her boyfriend over the holiday and her grandmother's illness intensify the unraveling of Sarah's previous sense of self identity, security and family harmony.
"We were struck by the compelling concept of this play and the intriguing way it is presented using the Passover Seder as the framework," said Fell's Point Corner Theatre's President Emeritus, Beverly Sokal. "It is a timely exploration of family roots, religious heritage and identity."
Daniel Baum is the founder of the Annapolis-based writer's group, the Four Seasons Playwright's Circle. A veteran of the former Washington New Play Festival, his work has also been performed at the Church Street Theatre in Washington. He has been a house manager at Arena Stage, a dramaturg for the Washington Shakespeare Company and a script reader/evaluator for numerous area theatres. Bloodlines received a series of readings as part of the Baltimore Playwright's Festival. This is its first full production.
The play is directed by Marianne Angelella and Peter Shipley.

Featured in The Cast are Michael Barrett, Janise Bonds, Lucia Diaz-French, Dianne Hood and Christopher Krysztofiak.

Tickets for the show are $17 on Friday and Saturday evenings, $15 for the Sunday 7:00 pm shows and $10 for Thursday evening performances. To purchase tickets, go to www.fpct.org
Fells Point Corner Theatre is located at 251 South Ann Street in Baltimore. There is a parking lot on Pratt Street, one block north of the theatre, between Broadway and Ann Street. The cost is $10. Street parking is also available.
