In 1945, a daring new play brought a brilliant young writer to national attention, and, in his own words, 'changed [his] life irrevocably' when it first premiered on Broadway. The play was The Glass Menagerie and the playwright was Tennessee Williams. More than seventy years later, Williams's plays continue captivate and overwhelm audiences around the world.

TheaterWorks will continue its 31st Season with NEXT TO NORMAL, running March 23 through April 30, 2017. The cast features Tony nominated Christiane Noll (Diana) and Australia's David Harris (Dan) in the Pulitzer Prize winning drama with music by Tom Kitt and book & lyrics by Brian Yorkey. Christiane is familiar to Connecticut audiences for her work at Goodspeed, Shubert, The Bushnell and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. David has been charming Australian audiences for years but recently relocated to New York. Local audiences have seen him in Terrance Mann's Les Miserable at Connecticut Repertory Theatre and Goodspeed's Anything Goes.

Yale Repertory Theatre will continue its 50th Anniversary Season with a new production of ASSASSINS (March 17-April 8), starring Stanley Bahorek (Giuseppe Zangara), Stephen DeRosa (Charles Guiteau), Lucas Dixon (John Hinckley), Austin Durant (Proprietor),  Dylan Frederick (Balladeer), P.J. Griffith (Leon Czolgosz), Richard R. Henry (Samuel Byck), Fred Inkley (Bystander), Courtney Jamison (Bystander), Jay Aubrey Jones (Bystander), Robert Lenzi (John Wilkes Booth), Lauren Molina (Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme), Julia Murney (Sara Jane Moore),  Brian Ray Norris (Bystander), Sana "Prince" Sarr (Bystander), and Liz Wisan (Bystander).

Directed by Trip Cullman (Significant Other, Yen), the revival of John Guare's critically acclaimed play Six Degrees of Separation will begin previews Wednesday, April 5 prior to the official opening on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Barrymore Theatre. The production will play a 15-week run through Sunday, July 16.

Two extraordinary actresses return to Manhattan Theatre Club in a vibrant new production of Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes. In a thrilling coup, MTC will present three-time Tony Award nominee Laura Linney (Time Stands Still, Sight Unseen) and Tony winner Cynthia Nixon (Rabbit Hole, Wit), who will alternate playing the roles of Regina and Birdie, appearing opposite each other at each performance. Lillian Hellman's legendary play about greed and ambition is set in Alabama in 1900, and follows Regina Giddens and her ruthless clan, including her sister-in-law Birdie, as they clash in often brutal ways in an effort to strike the deal of their lives. Far from a sentimental look at a bygone era, the play has a surprisingly timely resonance with important issues facing our country today. Tony winner Daniel Sullivan (Proof, Rabbit Hole) will direct.

Linda, the new play by Penelope Skinner (The Ruins of Civilization at MTC, The Village Bike), directed by MTC's award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow (The Assembled Parties, Wit), opens tonight, February 28, at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street). Present Laughter will play Broadway's St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street) this spring for a strictly limited 16-week engagement.
