THE WORLD COMES TO QUEENS Exhibition Runs Now thru 8/31 at Moving ImageApril 30, 2014In celebration of the anniversaries of the 1939-40 and 1964-65 New York World's Fairs-both of which took place in Queens-Museum of the Moving Image will present an exhibit of films that were made for the fairs and which reflect post-World War II-era optimism and focus on American industry as central themes. The exhibit, The World Comes to Queens: Films from the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs, featuring excerpts from six films, opens today and will be on view through August 31 in the Museum's Video Screening Amphitheater.
CCBC Screens Environmental Film SYMPHONY OF THE SOIL Tonight CCBC DundalkApril 30, 2014 As a follow-up to Earth Week, the Sustainable Horticulture program at the Community College of Baltimore County will host a screening of Deborah Koons Garcia's award-winning 2012 film, 'Symphony of the Soil.' The film will be shown at 7 p.m., tonight, April 30 in room 100 of the Roy N. Staten Building on the Dundalk campus at 7200 Sollers Point Road. It is free and open to the public. No reservation or tickets are needed. Faculty and staff of the Sustainable Horticulture program will be on hand to answer questions regarding the horticulture issues brought up in the film.

Director Esther Anderson to Appear at Screening of BOB MARLEY: THE MAKING OF LEGEND at Moving Image, 4/27April 24, 2014Bob Marley: The Making of Legend screens as part of the series Changing the Picture, sponsored by Time Warner, Inc. on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at 4:30 p.m. at The Museum of the Moving Image. Comprised of never-before-seen archival footage, this enthralling 2011 documentary, directed by Esther Anderson and Gian Godoy, unveils rare glimpses into Bob Marley and The Wailers's rise to stardom, including the band's first rehearsal. Director Anderson will appear in person at the screening. Moderating the post-screening Q&A will be Warrington Hudlin, President of the Black Filmmaker Foundation, Museum trustee, and Changing the Picture co-curator.
Tribeca Film Festival Hosts 'Film for All Friday' Day of Free ScreeningsApril 25, 2014The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), through presenting sponsor AT&T, will offer all film screenings taking place today, April 25 for free.
