NewFilmmakers is a unique Screening Series that gives new filmmakers the opportunity to screen their films in New York, Los Angeles, and Online. On Tuesday, August 19th, NewFilmmakers NY presents two Short Film Programs and the new feature LA VIE NOUS APPARTIENT.

THE GIVER is an upcoming science fiction film directed by Phillip Noyce, based on the 1993 novel of same nameby Lois Lowry. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgard, Odeya Rush, Katie Holmes and Taylor Swift. Below, check out a new clip from the movie, featuring Swift at the piano!

PRIDE is about the extraordinary true story of two very different communities who unite to defend the same cause. Below, check out a brand new trailer for the film, featuring theatre stars Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton and Dominic West! The movie is out in the UK on September 12.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Random House is publishing a FROZEN chapter book series that will tell what happened after the storyline in Disney's 2013 box office mega-hit.

A screening of the silent film, Wings, accompanied by live organ music will take place Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 7:30pm as a kick-off to the Armed Forces Parade on Monday, August 11th and the Atlantic City Airshow on Wednesday, August 13th. This event will serve a benefit to raise funds to preserve and restore both organs at Boardwalk Hall, one of which is the largest in the world.

Written and directed by Peter Glanz, THE LONGEST WEEK, starring Jenny Slate, Olivia Wilde, Billy Crudup, and Jason Bateman, will be in theaters on September 5th, 2014.

Variety writes that The Lonely Island -- Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone -- are teaming up with Judd Apatow for a Universal movie. Schaffer and Taccone will direct.

Deadline writes that Open Road is developing SPOTLIGHT, a film centering on the Boston Globe's investigation into pedophile priests in the Catholic Church. Tom McCarthy directs from a script he co-wrote with Josh Singer (The West Wing). Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton, Aaron Eckhart, Liev Shreiber and Stanley Tucci are set to star.

Several Tony Award-winners teamed up to bring an adaptation of the 1988 musical LUCKY STIFF to the big screen. Starring Jason Alexander, the late Dennis Farina, Dominic Marsh, Nikki M. James, Don Amendolia, Pamela Shaw and Kate Shindle, the movie will compete in the 'Feature Film' competition of this year's Montreal World Film Festival. The Los Angeles LGBT Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center and StandOut Productions present a gala evening celebrating the world premiere of Vickie Shaw's brand new comedy film, I'm Not Your Role Model, directed by StandOut's Andrea Meyerson A 'comedy Q&A' featuring Ms. Shaw and her funniest friends, Roxana Ward and Lisa Koch, will follow the screening. The audience is then invited to an outdoor reception in the beautiful courtyard of the Center's The Village at Ed Gould Plaza. The party will take place tonight, August 9, starting at 8 p.m.

IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX; TSX: IMX), Universal Pictures, a division of Comcast Corp. (CMCSA) and EuropaCorp announced that Lucy, the new thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Luc Besson that stars Scarlett Johansson and Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive Imax format and released into Imax theatres in select international territories starting today, August 8.

The Rural Route Film Festival, celebrating its tenth anniversary, returns to Museum of the Moving Image from today, August 8 through 10, 2014, with its showcase of international films that take the road less traveled, transporting viewers to places far outside of the city.

Drafthouse Films will be releasing 'The Dog' in New York today, August 8th and Los Angeles (and on VOD platforms) on August 15th, 2014.

The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by AT&T, will be held April 15- April 26, 2015 in New York City. Today the Festival announced a call for submissions for narrative features, documentary features, short film entries and transmedia projects. Also announced was the promotion of Genna Terranova to Festival Director and Cara Cusumano to Senior Programmer.

Warner Bros just announced it has moved up its BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE release date by two months to March 25, 2016. The original date -- May 6 -- had the film pitted against Marvel's CAPTAIN AMERICA 3.

Three Broadway understudies (Ben Crawford, Merwin Foard and Alena Watters) are profiled in Stephanie Riggs' documentary THE STANDBYS (Sunchaser Entertainment -- 76 minutes/NR).
