Singing and performing since the age of 5, Leesa always knew the performing arts would be part of her life. Growing up she learned how to play over 10 instruments even if it was just “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”! Her passion for trying new things in music has led Leesa to want to teach in the same way, giving all students the opportunity to try. Traveling extensively with performing groups over the years, she has had the opportunity to act and sing in many cities throughout the US. Now as a performing arts educator, she hopes to educate the non-theater community in the valley about the fabulous opportunities to support professional, school and community theater. When she’s not in the audience, Leesa is an instructor and Managing Director at Center Stage Boise.

Bye Bye Birdie is a Hit!BYE BYE BIRDIE hit the musical stage in the early 1960's. The story line was inspired by the popularity of Elvis Presley and his draft notice. BIRDIE is full of great tunes that most will recognize. 'How lovely to be a woman', 'Kids', 'The Telephone Hour' and 'Put on a Happy Face', made famous by Dick Van Dyke in the 1963 film adaptation.

This weekend the Velma V. Morrison Center brought us ONCE, based on the 2007 movie of the same name. The low budget film won an Oscar for for the best original song 'Falling Slowly', and I am thrilled that most of the music (the best part of the movie) is included in the musical version.

I saw the final evening show for the Traditions of Christmas on Thursday night. Produced by Laura Little Theatricals and booked as a Radio City Music hall style show, Traditions of Christmas has been playing in San Diego for over 27 years and in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho for the past 5 years. This is the first year it has been performed here in the Treasure Valley.
