The Smith Center for the Performing Arts is proud to announce its Broadway Las Vegas series as part of the inaugural season for this long-awaited performing arts center. This series will feature the best and brightest of Broadway, bringing full-length versions of THE COLOR PURPLE, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's MARY POPPINS, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET and MEMPHIS to the stage in Las Vegas. These exceptional shows join the ranks of the previously announced WICKED, which will open The Smith Center's first full-length season in August of 2012.

Our 15th Season

The Kurt Elling Quartet with John McLean will perform July 29 at 7:30 pm at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown, NY, as part of the Cooperstown Summer Music Festival. Grammy-winner Elling will perform jazz standards as well as songs from his new album, The Gate.

From the company that brought you The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode comes another hilarious parody of a beloved TV show, Thank You For Being a Friend. Who Wants Cake? is thrilled to bring this unofficial musical parody inspired by The Golden Girls to Ferndale's Ringwald Theatre for an exclusive 4 week run beginning Saturday, July 16th. Written by Nick Brennan, with music and lyrics by Luke Jones and Jeff Thomson, Thank You For Being a Friend will play Saturdays and Mondays at 8pm and Sunday afternoons at 3pm through August 8th. Don't miss your chance to see your favorite Ringwald guys dress as your favorite Golden Girls!

Born Georgette Lizette Withers on March 12, 1917 in Karachi, India, she was known as 'Googie' from an early age. Her family returned to England when she was aged seven and she began acting at the age of 12, appearing at the Victoria Palace in The Windmill Man. A student at the Italia Conti Academy of Arts, she was a dancer in a West End production when she was offered work as a film extra in Michael Powell's The Girl in the Crowd (1935). She arrived on the set to find one of the major players in the production had been dismissed, and she was immediately asked to step into the role.

Tony Award winner Idina Menzel will return to GLEE for a season three arc, according to reports from Deadline. Menzel could appear in up to 12 episodes throughout the season.

Fisher Landau Center for Art is pleased to announce 'LEGACY: Selections from Emily Fisher Landau's Gift to the Whitney Museum of American Art', on view through September 12th, 2011. Occupying all three floors at the Center, the exhibition highlights an overview of the historic pledge of artwork by Mrs. Landau, consisting of 419 pieces by 86 artists who have shaped the course of American Art. The installation is inspired by the Whitney Museum's recent 'Legacy' exhibition organized by Donna De Salvo and David Kiehl. The intimate setting of the Fisher Landau Center for Art allows for an expanded presentation of Mrs Landau's pledge, displaying more than 100 artworks by over 60 artists including:
