Providence Mayor Angel Taveras officially dedicated the new PPAC Square during a brief ceremony in front of the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) this morning.

Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (LUCKY STIFF, MY FAVORITE YEAR, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and RAGTIME) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination--JoJo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Who's.

THIRTEEN's Great Performances will present 12-year-old classical crossover prodigy Jackie Evancho's second television special Jackie Evancho: Music of the Movies, in August on PBS (check local listings). (In New York, THIRTEEN will premiere the special on Saturday, August 11 at 7:30 p.m., with an encore telecast Tuesday, August 14 at 8 p.m.)

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) announces its 2012-13 season, its 44th, featuring a compelling mix of beloved masterpieces and genre-defying premieres from firmly established and notable up-and-coming composers programmed by Jeffrey Kahane, one of the world's foremost conductors and pianists, who marks his 16th season as the Orchestra's music director.

Kristen van Ginhoven, WAM's Artistic Director, will teach a workshop on Sunday, July 22 from 1pm-4:30 at Eleven in Great Barrington where she will share what she learned while recently working at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival of Canada. The cost is $49 and a portion of proceeds will go towards WAM's fall world premiere production of 'The Old Mezzo' by Susan Dworkin.

Bernie Williams is best known for slugging it out of the park as a record-setting player for the New York Yankees, but it turns out that a baseball bat isn't the only instrument that he wields with skill and precision. A classically trained guitarist and Latin Grammy nominated musician, Williams plays and composes music with influences that include jazz, classical, pop, Brazilian, and Latin sounds.

Award-winning chef and author Marcus Samuelsson will present Vy Higginsen's Gospel for Teens Choir, who will provide the musical entertainment for "A Gospel Gathering at Ginny's" beginning Sunday, July 15th, 2012 at Ginny's Supper Club, the sister venue to Samuelsson's Red Rooster Harlem, located at 310 Lenox Avenue (between 125th and 126th Streets). The Gospel for Teens Choir will perform three sets of rousing gospel tunes during the venue's new Sunday buffet brunch served between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Seats are $35 per person (half off for children under 12). The Neville Brothers, who embedded New Orleans blues and funk into our music culture, will return to the Hollywood Bowl for their last L.A. performance on Wednesday, August 1 at 8PM. Prospect Theater Project and the Gallo Center for the Arts are joining again to bring Tartuffe, the comedy by French playwright Molière, to the Gallo Center stage July 27-29, 2012. Tartuffe follows two highly successful past partnerships between the Prospect Theater Project and the Gallo Center for the Arts; To Kill A Mockingbird in 2011 and The Grapes of Wrath in May 2012.

Table 8 Productions presents the World Premiere of the 'raunchy, rockin' comedy' Summer Camp! The Musical, with book by Troy Heard, music by Angela Chan, and lyrics by Heard and Chan. The Amoralists announced today that the group will be presenting a post-show talkback on Sunday, July 15 with playwright Derek Ahonen. Joe Meyers of the Connecticut Post will moderate the discussion, which follows the 2pm performance. The Amoralists are currently presenting the critically acclaimed World Premiere of Ahonen's The Bad and the Better, directed by Obie Award winner Daniel Aukin.
