Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of André Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced that it will produce the world premiere of NIKOLAI AND THE OTHERS, a new play by Richard Nelson, in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater this spring. The play, which was commissioned by Lincoln Center Theater, will be directed by David Cromer and will begin performances on Thursday, April 4. Opening night is Monday, May 6.

Shakespeare on the Sound, Connecticut's premier outdoor summer theater company, today announced that Joanna Settle will step down as artistic director at the end of her contractual term, which concluded following the company's 17th season this past July. Settle directed four successful productions for the company, including A Midsummer Night's Dream, Othello, Much Ado About Nothing, and this year's critically acclaimed Romeo & Juliet. Settle drew nationally renowned acting and creative teams to the company during her tenure, including the composers Stew and Heidi Rodewald (Passing Strange), who brought their singular talents to providing original music and, in the case of Romeo & Juliet, new text for the productions Settle helmed. In addition, Settle founded the Shakespeare on the Sound Apprentice Company.

The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents 'Chicken Little,' Friday, Oct. 12. This story is the first in the 2012-13 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. The Harlem School of the Arts (HSA), the community-based cultural and educational institution serving children and families of all backgrounds for nearly 50 years, today announced that it will receive an historic grant of more than $5 million from the Herb Alpert Foundation. The grant, totaling $5,050,000, is a gift from legendary musician, artist and philanthropist Herb Alpert to ensure a sustainable future for the Harlem School of the Arts and the future of its students.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) congratulates this year's winners of the Emery Battis Acting Award, Carson Elrod and Steven Epp. Since 2010, STC has recognized two actors per season who have demonstrated exceptional skill and technique on the stage. Elrod and Epp were lauded for their incredible performances as Crispin in The Heir Apparent and Truffaldino in The Servant of Two Masters, respectively. The award was presented September 24 at the opening night dinner for STC's first 2012-2013 production, The Government Inspector, hosted by the Board of Trustees.
