Named one of Huffington Post's "Favorite Female Comedians" and NY Magazine's "Comedians Funny People Find Funny," comedian Desiree Burch presents her newest solo work, TAR BABY, co-written with Dan Kitrosser. Directed by Isaac Byrne, previews of this limited Off-Broadway engagement begin January 5 at DR2 Theater. Opening night is slated for January 8th.

The Music Institute of Chicago is moving several of its signature programs to downtown Evanston. The Music Institute's administrative headquarters, the Institute for Therapy through the Arts, Musical Theater and World Music programs will relocate to the Evanston Galleria building at 1702 Sherman Avenue. The new space, expected to be ready for occupancy in July 2013, will replace facilities on Green Bay Road in Wilmette and Dempster Street in Evanston. With design services provided by the Evanston-based architectural firm Behles & Behles, the Sherman Avenue facility will include a black box theater with flexible seating for 150 as well as creative arts therapy studios and administrative offices.

International performers from more than 15 countries will dazzle during the 2013 Zelzah Shrine Circus, coming to the Orleans Arena for seven shows January 10-13.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced yesterday that TheatreWorks is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. TheatreWorks will receive a $30,000 grant to support the creation of new plays and musicals through the New Works Initiative. The 832 grant awards total $23.3 million and encompass 13 artistic disciplines and fields.

Custom Made Theatre presents the Bay Area premiere of Christopher Durang's Why Torture is Wrong, and the People who Love Them. This highly original black comedy centers around a young woman who suspects that her new husband -- whom she married while drunk -- may be a terrorist. Durang, the crown prince of American absurdists, spins a mirthful, politically infused tale full of outrageous characters. Cabaret Cares Concludes its 2012 Season with its Christmas Extravaganza on Dec 17th hosted by Tanya Holt. Cabaret Cares is the award winning series that raises funds for Help Is On The Way Today. Started in 2005 Cabaret Cares has raised over $74,000 for Help Is On The Way Today.

With the two bands currently selling out multiple shows together across Europe, Grammy-nominated rock bands Stone Sour and Papa Roach will head out on a U.S. co-headline tour in January 2013. Stone Sour, currently in the midst of a tour across five continents, will close out every show.

Whidbey Children's Theatre production of Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka Junior will open this Friday, December 7 and run weekends through Sunday, December 22.

Teenage country-pop sensations Jetset Getset will celebrate their new album 'Saturday Night' (Playback Records), when they help open for rising star Daphne Willis at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday, December 19. Joining Willis will be the legendary John Oates, of the classic rock duo Hall & Oates. Also performing that evening will be singers/songwriters Blane Howard and Sarah Lou Richards.
