Sugarward, Sean Graney's new play about the governor of the British Leeward Islands circa 1706, will receive its world premiere January 5, 2013, at 7:30 pm at The Side Project. Sugarward will then run Thursday through Saturday nights at 7:30pm and Sundays at 3 p.m. through February 10.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced today that Sarasota Opera is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Sarasota Opera is recommended for a $30,000 grant to support to support performances of Carlisle Floyd's opera Of Mice and Men, as part of the third year of the 'American Classics Series,' accompanied by significant educational programming.

Professional actors Tim Kniffin and Steven Abbott portray the McCourt brothers and a collection of characters from relatives to rogues, fools and petty tyrants.

Jet City Improv presents its 10th annual New Year's Eve Spectacular on Monday, December 31st from 8:00pm to midnight. This is an all-ages event that will feature live improvised comedy from Jet City Improv leading up to an audience champagne toast and dance party at midnight as the Space Needle fireworks are projected live on the big screen.

The last time Chick Corea and Béla Fleck performed together was in 2008. Now, five years later, they are back together touring the country, making a stop in Milwaukee at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, April 2 at 8:00 p.m. in Uihlein Hall for one performance only. This performance is presented by the Marcus Center as part of its continuing series Marcus Center Presents. Tickets go on sale on Friday, January 18 at 12:00 p.m. at the Marcus Center Box Office.

Nominations for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards were announced on December 5, 2012 and the Kansas City Chorale, under the direction of Artistic Director Charles Bruffy, has been nominated for 2 GRAMMY Awards for their recording: Life & Breath: Choral Works by René Clausen. Released on Chandos Records, this is the first recording dedicated entirely to the music of René Clausen by a professional choir.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will host its third annual Symphony Gala on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta. The evening will include a performance by Grammy Award winner Steve Martin and bluegrass band the Steep Canyon Rangers with members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Proceeds will benefit the Orchestra and its Education and Community programs.

The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) production of Tchaikovsky's timeless holiday classic The Nutcracker features a range of special guests in cameo roles through the course of its four-performance run. Special guests from the community joining the cast include Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Chad Williams, Director of Program Services of the Boys & Girls Club of Hartford. Closer to home, University President Walter Harrison; acclaimed Head Women's Basketball Coach Jennifer Rizzotti; and Miss Connecticut, Emily Audibert, also appear in cameo roles. Miss Audibert is a senior at the University of Hartford with a triple major in economics/finance, accounting, and entrepreneurial studies. She will represent Connecticut at the 2013 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas in January. University of Hartford mascot Howie the Hawk, as well as Pucky the Whale, beloved mascot of Connecticut Whale, also make appearances.
