The hallways of the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) were buzzing with excitement on Saturday, January 12 as some 150 area children ages 7 and older arrived with music in tow to audition for the roles of the seven von Trapp children in Franklin Performing Arts Company's upcoming production of The Sound of Music. The open auditions also cast a large number of ensemble roles. FPAC will present the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical theater classic, with professional orchestra, on Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at Franklin's Thomas D. Mercer Auditorium.

Brown University will host internationally acclaimed conductor and pianistDaniel Barenboim and the musicians of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra as they perform Beethoven's Symphonies Nos. 2 and 3 on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 8P and SymphoniesNos. 1, 8, and 5 on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 8P at The VETS, located at 1 Avenue of the Arts in downtown Providence.

Lattice Boykin McKoy was inspired to write her new book, "Marked Moments" (published by Trafford Publishing) after listening to President Barack Obama's speeches during his first presidential candidacy. "As I watched him, he called out in me such joy, hope and promise for the world," she explains. "I thought, this is the President that my father, a minister, had told me God would be sending. This is the leader that Dr. Martin Luther King had talked about. His energetic and wonderful oratory made me want to respond to him and to be a part of his team." It was this very reason that McKoy shares now her new collection of poetry of marked moments of history through poetry.

With the help of airline timetables and a phenomenally efficient housekeeper, he convinces each that she is his only love. But then a visit from an old school chum and a fast new Boeing jet puts everyone on a collision course, hurtling Bernard's cunning deception towards disaster, and provides lift-off for laugh after laugh. Featuring Beth Linzer, Joanne Rooney, Seth Rohrbach, mark Saylor, Kelly Rohrbach and Annie Locke, "Boeing, Boeing" is the perfect comedy to brighten the winter blues.
