It'?s non-stop drama when 60 of America?s top high school musical theater performers arrive in New York City this summer for an intensive week of ?theatrical boot camp? as they vie for a shot at stage stardom in a national theater competition. The annual event is the subject of the new three-part primetime series, BROADWAY OR BUST, airing Sundays this fall, beginning September 9, 2012 on PBS (check local listings).

Black Milk, by the Russian playwright Vassily Sigarev (translation by Sasha Dugdale), will have its New York premiere Off-Broadway this summer from July 19 - August 4, 2012 in a production helmed by the acclaimed Venezuelan director Michel Hausmann at East 13th Street Theatre, 136 East 13th Street (home of Classic Stage Company).

Omaha Performing Arts presents Cox Music & Movies, featuring The Karate Kid and the retro pop ukulele sounds of Omaha band All Young Girls Are Machine Guns. New performers have been added to the sold-out Pump Up The Volume concert at Joe's Pub on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 9:30pm. Just added to the performer lineup are Harris Doran (The Actors' Fund's Hair), Claybourne Elder (Bonnie & Clyde), Gideon Glick (Spring Awakening), and Caren Lyn Tackett (Hair). The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage has awarded $873,000 through the Philadelphia Theatre Initiative (PTI) to seven theaters, presenters, and artists in the Philadelphia area. These include six grants for upcoming productions in the 2012-14 seasons, and one for research and development of a new play.

Twelve local high school students received scholarships for successfully competing in the 2012 James C. Macdonald Fine Arts Scholarship Competition, sponsored by the McLean Community Center (MCC) and the Alden Theatre, located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
