The songbook of Grammy Award winners David Hidalgo sand Louie Perez of Los Lobos drives Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe, a multimedia play with music by Theresa Chavez, Louie Perez and Rose Portillo that takes its title from the group's 1985 rocker "Evangeline." Chavez and Portillo co-direct the world premiere production for About Productions, opening at the Bootleg Theater on May 12 for a limited, three-week engagement through May 27. Low-priced previews take place May 3-11.

Hot off his run in "Dancing with the Stars," Emmy-winning television star, celebrity stylist, author and fashion designer, Carson Kressley will return to the Ogunquit Playhouse as Mr. Applegate (aka the Devil himself!) in the 2012 production of Damn Yankees (the new Boston Red Sox version!), on stage July 25 - August 18. This summer the Ogunquit Playhouse is celebrating its 80th anniversary of producing award-winning theatre in Southern Maine. Carson Kressley was last seen at the Ogunquit Playhouse in his critically acclaimed performance as Man in Chair during the 2010 run of The Drowsy Chaperone.

The Fresh Beat Band, Nickelodeon's popular preschool music group and stars of the hit TV series of the same name, are adding a second leg (50 cities, 70 performances) to their current sold-out nationwide concert tour and will play PlayhouseSquare on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the State Theatre FOR ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY. After a brief break from the road, the tour will resume Aug. 23 in Melbourne, Fla. More than 200,000 fans will have seen the live show by the end of the first run making it one of this year's most successful music tours. Tickets and Fresh Beat Band VIP packages will be available at www.freshbeatbandlive.com and www.ticketmaster.com beginning Friday, April 13. Nickelodeon and Ticketmaster will offer pre-sale tickets and VIP packages beginning Thursday, April 5, at 10 a.m. local time in each city. Lazer Vauderville is presented by ArtsRock of Rockland, Inc., a Rockland County, NY not-for profit arts organization, on Sunday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lafayette Theatre in downtown Suffern. This international touring stage show features black light juggling, lasers with magic, acrobatics, slapstick comedy and dance. Starring Carter Brown with hoop rolling and rope-spinning, Cindy Marvell the first woman ever to win the International Juggling Association Championships, and Jeff Taub former Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus clown, as well as Comedia Dell'Arte theater performer and master mask maker. Following the show there will be milk ‘n cookies for all the children!

This "voices-on" workshop is designed for singers eager to improve their harmony skills and for musicians looking to get more deeply into singing early American country/old-time/bluegrass music. It will concentrate on chord-based, close vocal harmony. Small groups will work on duets and trios with other workshop participants. Recording devices are encouraged. Everything is taught by ear, with word sheets. Participants should be a step up from beginning singers, and feel comfortable matching pitch and holding a part against someone else (think 'row, row, row your boat' as a round).

Join Carswell Berlin, private antiques dealer and expert in early 19th century American furniture, as he surveys the stylistic changes and features that characterize Phyfe's work over the course of a 50-year career. Mr. Berlin is a lender to the current Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition, Duncan Phyfe: Master Cabinetmaker in New York, where furniture from his collection dominates two of the three principal galleries of the exhibition. Several other pieces are illustrated in the exhibition catalog. On display at the Merchant's House is a set of 12 Duncan Phyfe side chairs, circa 1835, purchased by the Tredwells when they moved to East 4th Street.

Presented in collaboration with the represented country's consulates general and cultural institutions, the International Voices Project will celebrate the voices of international playwrights with eight premiere concert-style readings of selected plays that will be performed by a professional cast with stage directions read to allow audiences imaginations to create the world of the play.
