Between the Presidential Election cycle, a Zika virus outbreak, the heart-wrenching deaths of so many artists—the list goes on, and Stephen Colbert, James Franco, and Michael Stipe were there to remind us of it all. In a cover of 'It's the End of the World As We Know It' by R.E.M, the trio, led by Colbert, sing through all of 2016—the good, the bad, and the orange.

Perhaps Natalie Portman's long-overdue return to the Great White Way should be as the star of a musical. Portman proved her acting chops at an early age, making her Broadway debut as the titular character in a revival of The Diary of Anne Frank, on a recent visit to The Late Late Show, host James Corden revealed that Portman was a musical child prodigy as well.

A spin-off of the popular Broadway Princess Party concert series, created by Benjamin Rauhala and Laura Osnes, the first Broadway Prince Party bowed at Feinstein's/54 Below on October 17th. Featuring some of Broadway's favorite leading men-including real-life Disney prince Adam Jacobs as one of the hosts-the sold-out event oozed charm and chivalry, and we've got our fingers crossed for an encore performance!

Sutton Foster's start on Broadway is the real-life version of the stuff movie musicals are made of; one week before the opening of Throughly Modern Millie on Broadway, Foster received a call from director Michael Mayer, bumping her up from understudy to the star of the show—and the rest is musical theatre history. This morning, Foster sat down with CBS' Mo Rocca to chat about her journey as a Broadway actress, and her current starring roles in TV Land's Younger and The New Group's Sweet Charity. When speaking about the latter, in reference to recovering from her divorce several years ago, Foster said, “What's interesting is that I know [Charity], because I think I have been her, but luckily, I don't feel like I'm her now.”

America's favorite meth-making high school teacher, Walter White (Bryan Cranston), appeared on SNL's cold open with Jake Tapper (Beck Bennett) and Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon) last night to announce his return to the land of the living for the most unlikely-well, in this current political climate, perhaps not the most unlikely-of reasons: Donald Trump has nominated him to be the head of the national Drug Enforcement Administration. According to White, he and Trump 'Agree: it's time to 'Make America Cook Again.' [They] wanna fill this nation with red, white, and a whole lotta blue.' When discussing resistance he might face to his appointment considering his lack of political experience, White acquiesced that Congress 'might get hung up on the fact that [he] faked his own death; [he's] only the third person in the Trump cabinet to do that.'

Gaga recently sat down with Carr to chat about her new album, and rumors surrounding whether or not she'll be performing at next year's Glastonbury Festival.

Alec Baldwin returned to SNL last night with his now-iconic Trump impression for the episode's cold open, which featured a recap of Trump's first week as President-elect of the United States. Playing off of news that Trump was unaware of basic requirements for the Presidency, such as the need to hire a full staff for the West Wing of the White House, the sketch is a revolving door of Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon) bringing in various high-profile leaders to meet with the President-elect, who each reveal something that overwhelms Trump.

Last night, Dave Chappelle hosted SNL for the first post-election episode, and the comedian dedicated his opening monologue to covering Donald Trump's shocking win. From the ongoing protests, to police shootings, Harambe, and Black Lives Matter, Chappelle's commentary managed to bring poignant levity to a situation that has left many feeling hopeless.

Tony Nominee Rob McClure, currently starring on Broadway as Nick Bottom in Something Rotten, released a video today to honor and support the LGBTQ+ community in light of the recent Presidential election. The video features photos and video clips of LGBT couples and families, and is scored by 'Try Everything,' the Shakira song from the Disney movie Zootopia, which was lauded for its powerful message on systemic racism and equality.

ArtsWest is pleased to announce PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, the Tony Award-winning musical about the early adventures of Peter Pan, opening at the ArtWest Playhouse and Gallery on November 17.
