Following multiple media reports of GLAAD working with the producers of the new Mrs. Doubtfire musical in Seattle, the organization has clarified their involvement with the production - as well as the current Broadway musical Tootsie - which is set to wrap up it's run in January.

The top growing current Broadway musicals were Jagged Little Pill (12.51%), Beetlejuice (2.16%), Ain't Too Proud (1.60%), Frozen (1.40%) and Oklahoma! (1.07%). The top growing current Broadway plays were Slave Play (7.28%), A Christmas Carol (5.25%), Darren Brown: Secret (3.82%), American Utopia (3.57%) and Betrayal (2.88%).

As the Frozen North American tour begins its nine-week engagement at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in LA, BroadwayWorld has a first look at the production, featuring stars Caroline Bowman (Elsa) and Caroline Innerbichler (Anna), along with the rest of the Frozen company.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater presents Disney's Tony Award-winning musical Newsies, an inspiring story about kids who fight for what is right at the turn of the century, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and book by Harvey Fierstein. Inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City, this family-friendly musical follows the story of newsboys and newsgirls who dream of a better life and lead a crusade for justice. Just in time for the holidays, the score features fan favorites, including 'King of New York,' 'Carrying the Banner' and 'Seize the Day.' Newsies, directed by Molly Smith, with choreography by Parker Esse and music direction by Laura Bergquist, will run November 1-December 22, 2019 in the iconic in-the-round Fichandler Stage.

This week we're spotlighting Nadia DiGiallonardo is currently the music director for the Broadway production of Waitress at the Brooks Atkinson Theater, where she can be found playing and conducting Sara Bareilles' score most nights. She is also the music supervisor for the national tour and international companies of Waitress.

Baz Bamigboye reports that Taylor Swift and Andrew Lloyd Webber have collaborated on a new song for the CATS movie titled 'Beautiful Ghosts' which is performed by Frankie Hayward, and reprised again in the film by Judi Dench.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's iconic musical, Jesus Christ Superstar officially launched the 50th anniversary tour at Austin's Bass Concert Hall on October 8th before visiting over 30 cities including Los Angeles, Denver, Nashville, Dallas and Chicago. BroadwayWorld has learned Lempicka will run at La Jolla Playhouse beginning Spring 2020. Starring Eden Espinosa and Amber Iman, Lempicka is directed by Tony nominee Rachel Chavkin, with music by Matt Gould and book and lyrics by Carson Kreitzer.
