Rome around 1800. The city groaning under a regime of terror. The revolutionary-minded painter Mario Cavaradossi is responsible, in the Church of Sant'Andrea della Valle a Maria Magdalena paintings to create. From his captivity escaped Republican Angelotti from the family who Attavanti hidden in this church and now makes Mario to be noticeable. This is called him a safe hiding place on his property. Tosca, who learns of the arrest, also rushes forth: in her presence, Scarpia is torturing her lover. Then, Tosca tells angelotti's hiding place. Cavaradossi is to be executed on the next day. Only when Tosca Scarpia answered, he wants to give him life. Sham Tosca goes up on the offer: affiliated Scarpia arranges a bogus execution with blank-loaded guns. When he goes to Tosca to receive "his reward", she stabs him. But Scarpia has tricked Tosca and a real shooting. Now, life has become senseless for Tosca. At the approach of Scarpia's henchmen, she plunges by Castel Sant'Angelo, where her lover is killed.
