Agatha Christie’s legendary ‘whodunit’ THE MOUSETRAP is the world’s longest running play. One of the most skilfully written murder mysteries, it’s been keeping audiences in suspense from the first moment to the last, since 1952.
A group of strangers is stranded in a remote country house cut off from the outside world by a blizzard, when they discover that there is a murderer in their midst. Soon everyone including the young couple running the boarding house becomes a suspect. The mysterious guests include a querulous, retired magistrate, a neurotic young architect who seems better equipped to be a chef, an inscrutable younger woman who has spent years abroad, a retired Army Major and a flamboyant foreign gentleman. Into their midst comes a policeman, travelling on skis. To get to the rationale of the murderer’s pattern, the Detective Sergeant probes into the background of everyone present to uncover their dark secrets one by one, until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the murderer’s identity and motive are finally revealed.
„There are seven of you here tonight – one of you is the murderer …“
