Tickets Go On Sale Today for ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS in Melbourne

By:

The most successful comedy ever to be staged by the illustrious National Theatre of Great Britain, One Man, Two Guvnors, is coming to Melbourne from 17 May to 22 June 2013 at Arts Centre Melbourne, Playhouse.

A glorious celebration of the best of British comedy, One Man, Two Guvnors is a unique laugh-out-loud mix of satire, songs, slapstick and sparkling one-liners. Arts Centre Melbourne and Melbourne Theatre Company are joining forces to present this engaging show for a strictly limited season.

Since its world premiere at The National Theatre in 2011, One Man, Two Guvnors become a sensational Trans-Atlantic slapstick hit, receiving seven 2012 Tony nominations and awarded Best New Play in the 2011 Critics’ Circle Award. Directed by Nicholas Hytner, Richard Bean’s riotously funny adaptation of Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters with songs by Grant Olding, One Man, Two Guvnors will have audiences in stitches from the moment the curtain opens.

Owain Arthur in the role of Francis Henshall leads a stellar UK cast in this National Theatre production which has taken West End and Broadway stages by storm.

Fired from his skiffle band, hungry and desperate for cash, our hero Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe, a small-time gangster. But Roscoe is really Rachel, posing as her own dead twin brother – who’s been killed by Stanley, her hapless lover. Holed up in the Cricketers’ Arms, Roscoe waits to collect money he’s owed. Meanwhile, Francis spots the chance for an extra meal ticket and, double dipping, takes a job with Stanley. Now he must keep his two guvnors apart. Simple …

One Man, Two Guvnors will also be at the Adelaide Festival from 28 February to 9 March 2013, and Sydney Theatre Company from 30 March to 11 May.

Tickets are on sale from Wednesday 28 November at Arts Centre Melbourne on 1300 182 183 or artscentremelbourne.com.au or at MTC’s Southbank Theatre Box Office on 03 8688 0800 or mtc.com.au.
