Sell-Out Improvised MURDER VILLAGE Returns For Melbourne Comedy Fest

Following a critically acclaimed sell-out run at last year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne's favourite comedic improvisers are bringing the off-the-cuff whodunnit Murder Village to festival hub venue Trades Hall in 2020.

The hilarious Agatha Christie-style improvised format is a chance for murder mystery lovers to immerse themselves in a world of English villages, red herrings and suspicious characters.

"For an hour, audiences can live inside an Agatha Christie novel they've never read," director David Massingham says.

"It's just the place to meet vicars, retired generals, amateur dramatic society members and shrewd elderly ladies with a knack for solving murders."

Murder Village is a comedic mystery made up on the spot by skilled performers with years of training. The cast draws on alumni from popular groups The Big HOO-HAA!, Impro Melbourne and Impromptunes.

Each night's plot is created on the spot, using the audience's suggestions as inspiration, ensuring no two shows will be the same. The audience votes for each show's murder weapon, victim and murderer by secret ballot. As such, mystery lovers get to have their say while still enjoying the chance to try to solve the crime themselves.
