A warm, local welcome awaits all entrants in Yarrageh 2012, the longest running One Act Drama Festival in Brisbane.

Every year SandGate Theatre hosts this festival with a smorgasboard of plays spanning schools' Intermediate Section to Over 18's Open Section. Trophies are given to those best acting and best directing as well as a perpetual trophy for the best performance.

Come and be part of it, enter a play, or cheer your friends along in the audience. It is a fun night with music and drama for only $10 (audience). Refreshments are available and the hall has new lighting and sound equipment, new flooring, chandeliers and furnishings in a quaint building supporting the Town Clock.

"Yarrageh" is an aboriginal word meaning beginning of spring time, hence the Yarrageh festival is always around the start of September. Earliest reports are from 1974 which was won by the Brisbane School for the Deaf. In 1975 SandGate Theatre won and has played host to the festival since then. Since then, a broad cross section of theatre groups been Winners.
