On Saturday 23 October 2010, the doors to the Thomas Dixon Centre in West End, home to Queensland Ballet and the Queensland Dance School of Excellence, will be open from 11am to 3pm. Queensland Ballet is hosting an Open Day as part of the Company's 50th anniversary celebrations.

The Open Day is an invitation to the whole community. Whether you live in the local area, are interested in the history of the building, were once a dancer or have children with dancing dreams, this is an exciting opportunity to come and explore the grand old heritage-listed building, and gain an insight into Queensland Ballet's 50-year history. All are welcome and entry is free of charge (gold coin donation optional).

Queensland Ballet encourages you to come and look behind-the-scenes, meet Company dancers, see their rehearsal spaces, and explore the displays of beautiful costumes, ballet memorabilia and historical records from Queensland Ballet's extensive collection.

Dance and movement workshops for children will be held during the day. Places are limited, so to avoid disappointment, please book in now. There will also be a raffle with great prizes to win on the day.
