Polyglot Theatre to Present SEPARATION STREET
By: Tyler Peterson Aug. 05, 2015
Set in the unknown reaches of outer space, Separation Street is a walking theatrical adventure with a twist: kids are separated from their accompanying adults and taken on their own electrifying journey into a tangible, interactive and walk-through world.
Created by internationally renowned children's theatre innovators, Polyglot Theatre, the world-premiere season of Separation Street is on at Northcote Town Hall from 19 September - 4 October during the 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival. A collaboration with award winning comedy-music-theatre group The Suitcase Royale, Separation Street tells the story of thrill-seeking astronaut Frank who is determined to reach the limits of the universe and beyond. As the separated kids move through Frank's world - slowly but surely - their adventures begin to impact on the adults' own journey and intertwine. Ambient and exhilarating, in Separation Street kids and their adults experience a different universe - one where kids have power, adults are vulnerable and separation means freedom. "At many points in their lives, the worlds that adults and children inhabit may be in the same physical existence and yet seem universes apart," said Sue Giles, Artistic Director, Polyglot Theatre. "We wanted to make a work that emphasised the strangeness that can exist between adults and children, the wonderful tension between them and the fact that in everyday life we encounter aliens."Presented by Darebin Arts' LoudMouth as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival
