Ziggi Diagne (from WA)

A musician and dancer extraordinaire, Senegalese-born Ziggi Mabeye Diagne is the former percussionist, dancer and choreographer for world music icon Baaba Maal, and has mastered the art of traditional and contemporary music and dance.

Call for sculptors: Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures Exhibition 2011
26 January ? 6 February 2011
The 2011 BJCS exhibition will attract local and interstate artists, offering visitors a display of sculptures that are inspirational, enticing, imaginative and interactive. The sculptures range in size from small to large for both indoor and outdoor display. Freedom of creativity is encouraged. The combination of both an arts event and sporting event is unique and is embraced by both the local community and the community at large. The 2011 BJCS exhibition will be held at Brighton Surf Life Saving Club and Bindarra Reserve, Brighton, as well as various ?Sculpture Walk? locations along The Esplanade, Brighton.

Deadline: 27 November 2010
Prizes: Indoor, Outdoor, Junior (15 ? 21 years), People?s Choice, Emerging Artist, Environmental.
Open to: All sculptors working with wood, wire, metals, stone, clay, plastics, cement etc.
Entries: Maximum of three entries, which may be completed online or by mail.
Entry fee: $35 per entry (22+ years and older), $25 per entry (15 to 21 years old). Second and third entries are $20 per entry.

The Nexus Visual Arts program is developed each year to present a diverse range of artists working in a diverse range of artforms. Proposals from established and emerging artists and curators from any cultural background, working in any artform, are invited in June each year.

The guidelines and application form for Nexus-supported visual arts exhibitions in the Nexus Gallery for 2011 are online now. Nexus will be accepting completed application forms between 15 June and 30 August 2010. For more information, or to discuss an application, please email nexus@nexus.asn.au

Nexus Cabaret is a multi-use professional performing arts city-based venue suitable for theatre, cabaret, dance, community events, performances, birthday parties, workshops, rehearsals, lectures, seminars and forums. The Cabaret space has recently had a major $60,000 facelift and now boasts upgraded, professional lighting, audio and staging facilities as well as new furniture. Nexus Cabaret is licensed for up to 200 people.
