Nexus Gallery Presents It came from outer space...
A group exhibition looking at the darker side of story telling, It came from outer space... explores our cultural fascination with classic 1950s horror and science fiction iconography. Featuring new works by young local artists Simone-Clare Hede (ceramics), Joshua Smith (stencil work) and Dan Withey (illustration and dioramas), the exhibition will take a fresh look at the aesthetics of and psychology behind the cinema and literature that terrified and delighted Western audiences in the 1950s, from cult Hammer Horror figures to films such as Invasion of the Body Snatchers and It Came From Outer Space.
Exhibition Opening: 11 February, 6pm-8pm
Come dressed as your favourite science fiction / horror character!
Door prize for best-dressed ghoul, to be presented by guest speaker (John McConchie, Lecturer in Screen Studies at Flinders University)
