Thu 17 June, 8pm: Alan Posselt
Alan Posselt, Australia?s finest sitarist, is a giant among musicians, with an international reputation for virtuosic performances and boundless understanding of Hindustani classical music. Alan?s early training was with Ustad Allaudhin Khan, Ravi Shankar?s teacher, whose influence endowed him with a rich foundation for his own evolving style. Alan Posselt will perform at Nexus Cabaret with visiting tabla maestro, Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury. Fri 18 June, 8pm: Celestial Echoes by Siobhan Owen
16 year-old Siobhan Owen was voted ?Most Outstanding Emerging Talent? at the 2009 SA Folk Awards and performed to great acclaim at Adelaide Fringe 2010. Welsh-born Siobhan turns her haunting soprano voice and delicate harp playing to Celestial Echoes, a repertoire of traditional Celtic songs.
Sat 19 June, 8pm: Sizzling Strings by Bruce Mathiske
Experience the guitar wizardry of acclaimed virtuoso Bruce Mathiske, whose ability to play bass, rhythm and melody simultaneously has led to standing ovations around the world. Be captivated as Bruce explores various musical styles including Flamenco, African, Latin, Gypsy, jazz, Celtic, swing, country and funk. Sizzling Strings also features the distinct style of ukulele dynamo Greg Young.
