Melbourne Theatre Company's THE DROWSY CHAPERONE Featuring Geoffrey Rush Now Playing Thru 2/27

By: Jan. 27, 2010

Melbourne Theatre Company presents
The Drowsy Chaperone
Music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison.
Book by Bob Martin & Don McKellar.

Running from January 18 - February 27.

Whatever happened to those toe-tapping, audience-grabbing musicals of yesteryear - like The Drowsy Chaperone? You remember it - it's the one where the Broadway star wants to leave the show because she's fallen for some oil-rich lummox, so the producer hires a gigolo to woo the girl and put the kibosh on the nuptials. With chorus girls and gangsters and an aviatrix and, of course, the 'drowsy' chaperone!

Those were the days! The Man in the Chair is your guide to this star-studded, sequin-drenched lollapalooza of a show from the days when stars had charisma, Broadway had romance and Rodgers had Hart.
