This is one ‘menopause' you'll want to re-live - or if you missed out the first time...you'll be glad that it's coming back! Menopause the Musical returns to Adelaide for a very limited season from 12 - 14 November 2009 at Her Majesty's Theatre.

The original Adelaide season in 2007 ran for an incredible 20 week season (the longest-running show in the Adelaide Festival Centre's history and beating The Phantom of the Opera by one week), selling 73,000 tickets. Before it had even opened here, Adelaide broke the world record for advance sales to the show, beating 38 other cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Boston and is currently undertaking a 63-week national tour by Christine Harris & HIT Productions.

Originally created by Florida woman Jeanie Linders and inspired by "a hot flush and a bottle of wine", the show features four very different women - a housewife, a businesswoman, an earth mother and a former 1970s television star - who meet whilst shopping in Myer and quickly discover that they have one major thing in common - The Change.

Bringing the story to life are over twenty hit songs such as The Great Pretender, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Stand By Your Man and many more, all sung with gusto and with new, hilarious lyrics.

The cast comprises accomplished Australian performers Donna Lee, Carolyn Waddell, Maria Mercedes and Cindy Pritchard, all of whom bring decades of musical theatre experience to the stage. Menopause The Musical is directed by Gary Young whose credits include Mamma Mia!, Les Miserables, Carousel and Guys and Dolls.

"Most women know intuitively that every other woman is experiencing memory loss, night sweats, or hot flushes but when they are in a theatre with hundreds of women - not just a few sympathetic friends - and all are laughing and shouting ‘that's me' then they know what they are experiencing is normal. They aren't crazy. It becomes a sisterhood." Jeanie Linders - Playwright

Come and see for yourself why over 800,000 Australian women have flocked to the theatres (and often returned to see it a second time) to laugh, cry, sing, dance and celebrate what was once a most ‘taboo' topic.
