Finucane & Smith has announced that Glory Box Paradise - in its full unexpurgated wildness - will headline this year at the Buenos Aires InterNational Theatre Festival becoming the first ever Australian work to be presented in Latin America's most prestigious theatre festival, Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires (FIBA).

Calling Finucane "La Gloriosa" and the Glory Box a "powerful, moving, mesmerising work set to take continent by storm", cultural broker Frank Madrid has confirmed the new season of Glory Box as a centre piece of its influential "Presenters Week".

The decision has thrown the powerhouse Production Company into a frenzy of activity with new passports, visas and flights needing to be secured within the week. Sarah Ward, who has created a riot of acclaim for the red hot disco mama she created with Finucane & Smith has an expired passport, has lost her birth certificate, and her costumes include a one metre high white afro. And that's just the beginning of the spike booted, dark angeled, feather fingered, snow falling, and milk flying tour logistics.

The Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires is one of the most important theatre events in Latin America, bringing together the artistic diversity expressed in the new aesthetic quests and the current trends in theatre, dance, visual and sound arts from around the world. Great artists on the national and international performance scene are regular protagonists of this prestigious event. Some of them include Peter Brook, the Volksbuenhe, the Schaubünhe, Patrice Chéreau, Sankai Jaku, Compagnia Pippo Delbono, Theatre du Soleil, Robert Wilson and the Teatro Piccolo di Milano as well as the leading companies across Latin America. The Festival is a coveted destination for companies, producers and festival directors from around the world.

Glory Box will be presented at La Trastienda, an established venue with a long history of presenting some of the most important international acts to have visited Argentina.

Frank Madrid from the internationally renowned FAMA producers said "I was mesmerised, moved and touched by Glory Box, all while having a fabulous time. I have never seen such excitement on stage. I want Argentines to see the show, whatever it takes. This is the show they must see".

"This highly polished and edgy show is a perfect offering for audiences of The Buenos Aires InterNational Theatre Festival, as well as visiting domestic and international producers who are committed, sophisticated, eclectic and demanding with a thirst for innovative and transcendental work. Brazilian, Colombians and Mexican producers are flying in specifically to catch the show and I am confident they will love this very powerful incarnation."

Finucane and Smith have been acclaimed in ten languages, seducing and capturing the imaginations of incredibly diverse audiences and critics around the world. More than 100,000 people have seen the Glory Box with more than 40 sell out seasons the world over of a genre defying salon of insolent and exotic live art, cabaret, circus and sideshow and dance in a seductive spectacle.

You can still catch Glory Box in its annual Melbourne winter showcase at fortyfivedownstairs until 11 August. Tickets are flying out the door, with special guests every night - Book now or cry!
