A love letter to the subtlest of soundscapes: on the 40th anniversary year of Brian Eno's classic Discreet Music, a slew of artists present a live interpretation of this shimmering monument of ambient elegance.

In a career not short of stand-out moments, Eno's 1975 album Discreet Music trod in the opposite direction to all peers with a murmuring mixture of synthesised sounds that sought not to redefine the relationship between listener and song. The legacy of this muted masterpiece still resounds today.

Now this milestone of minimalism will be recreated by Eno-collaborators and leading British musicians Leo Abrahams (Pulp, Marianne Faithful) and David Coulter (Yoko Ono, The Pogues, Kronos Quartet), Australian cult trio The Necks, US-based Australian chamber ensemble Golden Fur and EMS synthesiser Frippertronics guru Matthew Brown.

Please note that Brian Eno is not performing; this concert will be a live reinterpretation of Brian Eno's 1975 release Discreet Music.

About Supersense

A hypersensory journey for the curious and the bold that explores music, film, dance, performance art, sound and light, Supersense is a cutting-edge new festival that marries the renegade with the classic throughout Arts Centre Melbourne from 7 - 9 August 2015.

Curated by globetrotting performer Sophia Brous in collaboration with the Asian Performing Arts Program, Supersense foregrounds musical and artistic traditions exploring ecstatic experience and transformation from both at home and around the world. From the euphoria of Eastern trance ceremonies to the frenzies of modern punk and stroboscopic cinema, the festival will transform Arts Centre Melbourne's stages, back rooms and hidden spaces into zones of rapture and collective experience.

Local and internationally celebrated artists who will be featured in Supersense include legendary German electronic artist Ash Ra Tempel/Manuel Gottsching, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the premiere of Gurrumul's radiant new concert Gospel Songs and commissioned works by John Cale featuring Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance) and Michigan electronic artist Laurel Halo.

The Supersense festival will take place over three days with ticketing options including whole day passes or single performance tickets for headline acts. For the full program, visit www.artscentremelbourne.com.au/supersense.
