Coodabeen Champions 35th Anniversary Tour to Stop at Arts Centre Melbourne
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the much loved and legendary footy show The Coodabeen Champions, ABC Radio's favourite sons will bring their live show to Arts Centre Melbourne for one day in September to amuse and delight footy fans alike.
When the Coodabeens first hit the 3RRR airwaves in 1981 with their simple formula, they were also breaking new ground for sports coverage. A bit like the AFL teams of today, the Coodabeens did their share of building the playing list.
A few came and went - including Simon Whelan who was benched, albeit as a Judge in the Supreme Court - but Jeff Richardson is still rucking to an engine room of stalwarts: Ian Cover, Greg Champion and Billy Baxter.
Covey, Champs, Billy and Richo are limbering up and preparing to run through your banner. Make no mistake, they've come to play and will have a red hot go.
Irreverence, wit, humour and the odd tall story are the order of the day when The Coodabeens take the microphone in the intimate confines of Arts Centre Melbourne's Playhouse Theatre.
Following a sellout show last year, the Coodabeens are armed with new material and all their old favourites. Pearl from the Peninsula, Peter from Peterborough, Nige from North Fitzroy, Guru Bob and all the regulars will be on board for this special live show.
Tickets will go fast; make sure you're in possession by heading to www.artscentremelbourne.com.au. It would be a rookie mistake to miss out on this hilarious event.

“Relax Your Knees” is a peek into the anxious brain of an aggressively optimistic dyslexic queer nightmare, who was raised by TV and is trying their best. No story, no thru-line (cowards), just Frankie McNair screaming her favourite jokes for 55 minutes and having too much fun in a grubby mix of stand-up, non sequitur sketch comedy and unbridled joy.
