Children's Entertainer Peter Combe to Perform at Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre

By:

Legendary children's singer-songwriter Peter Combe returns to Melbourne these September School Holidays with a brand new Melbourne-premiere show Wash Your Kids in Orange Juice. Playing Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre in Preston on 20 - 21 September, 2015, Combe brings his signature brand of infectious lyrics and catchy tunes to entertain both big and little kids alike during the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Melbourne families can sing their hearts out to Combe's seminal classics including, Mr Clicketty Cane, the fictional character who famously washes his face with orange juice, Newspaper Mama, Toffee Apple, Juicy Juicy Green Grass, Spaghetti Bolognaise, Quirky Berserky the Turkey from Turkey ... and many more.

Combe will perform alongside 6 teenage students from the Theatre Bugs drama school in Adelaide, who will sing, dance and get the audience on their feet during participatory numbers.

"We are thrilled that Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre will be, for the first time, a programmed venue in the Melbourne Fringe Festival," said Robin Penty, Manager, Creative Culture, City of Darebin. "It's a pleasure to be hosting one of Australia's veterans of children's entertainment and we can't wait to have our local kindergarten and primary aged children - and their parents - singing along in their seats to some of Peter's most legendary songs."

Originally from Adelaide, Combe began his career as a music teacher and wrote original songs for his students to perform. Over three decades later, Combe has had 22 releases, including seven gold albums, two platinum, three ARIA awards and appeared on many television and radio programs in both Australia, UK and around the world.

In recent years, Combe has been catapulted to cult status by his now-adult fans from the 80s and 90s. Combe recently sold out a spate of 'pub gigs' across the country, most notably at Richmond's Corner Hotel and Northcote Social Club, which saw hundreds of nostalgic 20- and 30-somethings belting "wash your face with orange juice / brush your teeth with bubble-gum".

Peter Combe: Wash Your Kids in Orange Juice is presented by Darebin Arts' LoudMouth program of kids' entertainment for the 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival. Presenting a year-round school holiday program of exciting, innovative and participatory theatre productions from around Australia, LoudMouth seeks to enliven the greater Melbourne area with world-class art and performances for families.
