Open Labs announced today it has joined forces with Tommy Lee and Methods ofMayhem producer Scott Humphrey in the Public Mayhem album collaboration project. As previously announced, isolated instrument tracks, or stems, from the upcoming album have been posted on the website www.thepublicrecord.com.

Anyone with a great musical idea is invited to play a part in helping achieve true Public Mayhem, i.e. collaborate on the album and a chance to perform with Methods of Mayhem at their record release show. Open Labs adds to the mix by providing a DBeatTM production station up for grabs. DBeat is the first professional studio that can be played as a musical instrument. Compose, record, mix and master, all "in-the-box," then use it to perform live on stage. Capable of running virtually any Windows® XP-based music application or Digital Audio Workstation software (DAW), DBeat isa powerful computer, mixer, MPC, virtual instrument (VST) host and mastering station in a single seamless instrument.

It can even burn CDs or DVDs and distribute the music online. Valued at $4,000, the DBeat will be signed by Tommy Lee."Tommy breaks the mold with the Public Mayhem collaboration project', says Victor Wong, Chairman and Co-Founder, Open Labs, "he is bringing interactivity to new levels and we are proud to provide the same gear he is using in the studio to the lucky winner.""This is an exciting record for me because no one has really opened up the creation of their music to fans at this level before", says Tommy Lee, "and tools like DBeat really allow anyone to take part in this project."
