COOKIN' WITH GUS Set for Hill Country Community Theatre, 9/10-20

By:

Gussie loves to cook and has a chance at getting her own culinary show on television. Walter, her husband, loves her very much and wants to spend more time with her. Then there is Carmen, their flamboyant neighbor and would-be co-star, and Bernie, Gussie's ambitious agent. They all come together in the comedy COOKIN' WITH GUS, which will be performed at the Hill Country Community Theatre September 10th through the 20th.

"The play lends itself to so much humor and the cast fits perfectly in their roles. The audience can look forward to some sidesplitting hilarity," said director Patrick Lescarbeau. "The beauty of this play is that we all know someone like these characters and it becomes easy to relate to them making this play so touching and funny at the same time."

The story revolves around Gussie, a well-known food columnist and cookbook writer bent on making the transition to television. To do this, she has to make a demonstration video. The only problem is she has incapacitating stage fright, which carries over into the taping of the video. Walter seemingly comes to the rescue with hypnosis, which he says can cure her of the stage fright. Unbeknownst to her, however, Walter wants the demonstration video to be a flop.

COOKIN' WITH GUS, written by James Brochu, will be presented by the Hill Country Community Theatre, 4003 W FM 2147, Cottonwood Shores, TX 78657. Performances will be on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sunday matinees at2:15 PM.

Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for children and students with a valid ID. Reservations can be made by calling (830) 798-8944, online at www.thehcct.org, or at the box office (12:00 noon to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday) beginning August 31 for HCCT members and September 3 for the general public.
