Pianist Yuja Wang Makes Atlanta Symphony Debut Tonight

Guest conductor Roberto Abbado will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra April 19, 20, and 21, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Guest pianist Yuja Wang will make her Atlanta Symphony debut performing Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3. The program will also include Kabalevsky’s The Comedians and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra subscription premiere of Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings in C Major.

Twenty-three-year-old Chinese pianist Yuja Wang was named Gramophone magazine’s Young Artist of the Year at the Classic FM Gramophone Awards in 2009.

Ms. Wang has released two recordings on Deutsche Grammophon: her debut recording, Sonatas & Etudes, which was released in the spring of 2009, and a second recording, Transformation, which was released in the spring of 2010 and was selected by Gramophone magazine as the July 2010 Record of the Month.
