HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH Extends Through April 6 at Pinch 'N' Ouch Theatre

Atlanta's Pinch 'N Ouch Theatre is rocking and rolling with their latest production of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, which will be extending for a third time. The Tony Award-winning rock musical, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, written by John Cameron Mitchell and music by Stephen Trask, tells the story of "internationally ignored song stylist" Hedwig Schmidt, a fourth-wall smashing East German rock 'n' roll goddess who also happens to be the victim of a botched sex-change operation, which has left her with just "an angry inch."

Playing the iconic role of "Hedwig Schmidt" is actor, singer, comedian Andy Fleming. HEDWIG marks Fleming's fifth production at Pinch 'N' Ouch Theatre. Last year, he performed in PNO's production of GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS by David Mamet. In prior years he was seen in Grant McGowen's WALL STREET WEDDING, the Pulitzer Prize winning WATER BY THE SPOONFUL by Quiara Alegría Hudes, and Annie Baker's THE ALIENS.

Critics and audiences are raving about HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. Manning Harris of Atlanta InTown Paper writes, "Pinch 'N' Ouch Theatre is presenting a rousing, passionate version of the glam-rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, directed by Grant McGowen." Adding, "the show is wildly theatrical and often funny, there's also a touching humanity, an eternal note of sadness (as the poet says) just beneath the surface... Hedwig is no blushing ingenue; she's a grown woman who has known pain, sorrow, and disappointment. Yet there is a gallant, fierce strength as well. As the show's notes say, this play is for anyone who has felt life gave them an inch when they deserved a mile."

Pinch 'N' Ouch Theatre is A Contemporary Theatre & Film production company dedicated to bringing exciting new works to Atlanta. Named after a phrase coined by the legendary acting teacher Sanford Meisner, "pinch and ouch" offers an enthusiasm for provocative storytelling that is grounded in realistic performances. Since the company's arrival to Atlanta in 2010, PNO has already carved out a niche for edgy fare and has set a high standard in delivering impassioned, sharp productions from some of the most important writers working today. PNO also offers a variety of acting classes, and is involved in the development of new plays and writers.
