Concertmaster David Coucheron To Perform Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, 3/7-10
Concertmaster David Coucheron will take center stage to perform Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with guest conductor Robert Abbado and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra March 7 and 9 at 8:00 p.m., and 10, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. Mr. Abbado will also lead the Orchestra in Schubert's Overture to Die Zauberharfe and the Atlanta Symphony premiere of Berio's Rendering - an inventive reimagining of Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony No. 10, which Schubert was working on at the time of his death. The program will also include Rossini's William Tell Overture.
Mr. Coucheron, a 28-year-old Norwegian violinist, is the youngest concertmaster among any major U.S. Orchestra. Of his upcoming performance, he has said, "The Mendelssohn Violin Concerto is a beautiful piece of music and very fun to play, so it has always been a personal favorite of mine. I am very much looking forward to collaborating with Roberto Abbado, who is a frequent guest conductor in Atlanta and a great friend of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and my talented colleagues for this wonderful concerto."
