World Premiere of BLOODSUCKINGLEECH Will Come to Nashville Repertory Theatre

Nashville Repertory Theatre will present BloodSuckingLeech  a new comedy by playwright Amy Tofte, making its debut as a standout selection from the Ingram New Works Project.

"BloodSuckingLeech" follows Erica, a woman desperately trying to shield her aging mother from online scammers, only to find herself caught in a web of paranoia, guilt, and unexpected hilarity. As family tensions rise and reality blurs, this dark comedy explores the absurdity of modern anxieties, the weight of caregiving, and the unsettling feeling that someone, or something, is always lurking."BloodSuckingLeech" is a sharp, witty examination of connection, control, and the monsters we create.

"This never-before-seen play is a look at what we do to protect the people we love when the world feels like it's trying to take advantage of them at every turn," says Amos Glass, Interim Executive Director of Nashville Repertory Theatre. "Amy Tofte has written a story that is as funny as it is heartbreakingly honest."

"BloodSuckingLeech," originally developed through the Ingram New Works Project at Nashville Repertory Theatre, is a witty new play that skewers both our paranoia and our tender, messy attempts to protect one another.

"Our goal with "BloodsuckingLeech" is not only to entertain but to spark dialogue," said Jess Fichter, Artist Director. "Theatre has always been a powerful tool for education, and this production challenges audiences to think critically about the systems and relationships that shape our lives."

"BloodSuckingLeech" stars Rona Carter, Shannon Hoppe, Megan Murphy Chambers, and Meggan Utech, directed by Beki Baker, set design by Gary C, Hoff, costumes design by Melissa K. Durmon, lighting design by Logan Purcell, sound design by Liz Morgan, and stage management by Will Farris.

Performances will be held May 14-17 at Noah Liff Opera Center at 3622 Redmon Street, Nashville, TN 3720.
