Warriors For Peace Theatre Presents JULIUS CAESAR

Richard Allen Enterprises in Association with Warriors For Peace Theatre is thrilled to present a production of JULIUS CAESAR in the early summer of 2019 in Los Angeles.

Julius Caesar is a history and tragedy play by William Shakespeare. Julius Caesar will be directed by Armin Shimerman. Warriors For Peace Theatre is one of the most diverse and progressive theater companies in LA. Founded by an Iraq War veteran, it uses Shakespeare to help veterans find catharsis and promote peace through the theater arts.

WFP Theatre will present The Women of Shakespeare directed by Katie Brandt. A night of monologues and scenes showcasing women in their favorite Shakespearean roles will be held Monday, November 26th, 6:30 p.m. at The American Legion Post 43, 2035 N. Highland Ave. Los Angeles, CA, 90068. The Women of Shakespeare will be raising funds for the Warriors For Peace Theatre and its future productions.

"As a war veteran I served in combat with women and have never accepted the notion that they are not capable of excelling in any given job or task that men can do," says Christopher Loverro, Producer of WFP Theatre. "This showcase is not just about giving female actors the opportunity to tackle roles traditionally reserved for men but to give them an opportunity to let their passion, power and excellence shine through the beauty of Shakespeare's verse and prose."

"It is such a singular and exciting opportunity, especially as a female director, to be able to work with these fantastic actresses and to be able to really foster and encourage a sense of community among the women in this industry rather than the sense of competition that so often permeates our lives in this job. These women come from a variety of different backgrounds and levels of familiarity with the Bard's work but each has a unique voice and point of view that they bring to their pieces." Katie Brandt, Director of The Women of Shakespeare.

Richard Allen is the producer of next year's Off Broadway production of BAYARD and the award winning show, FREEDOM RIDERS: The Civil Rights Musical. "I'm excited to partner and collaborate with WFP Theatre. I saw the table read of Julius Caesar and I was blown away by the work and especially the veterans and diversity. It was just cool and so unlike how most companies are doing Shakespeare. I knew that if I produced this show we'd bring to Los Angeles a piece of theatre that is enlightening, engaging, and inspiring."

Warriors For Peace Theatre is an organization comprised of US military veterans and civilians who aim to promote peace, healing, and foster the principles of global citizenship by bringing war veterans of different nations together in the theater arts. We choose to use Shakespeare because he is the most widely performed playwright in the world and understands war and human nature. Our goal is to show the world that by soldiers coming together to perform art we are all brothers and sisters. There is no "other"; there is only "us".
