Warlow Injured, First DOCTOR ZHIVAGO Performance Cancelled
By: Charlie Piane
The new musical DOCTOR ZHIVAGO began performances in Sydney February 11, but the first performance was affected due to an injury sustained by the show's star, Anthony Warlow.
Aussie blogger 'Diva Knows Best' reported on the evening: "Tonight, as the audience took their seats, famed Australian impresario John Frost walked out with a microphone and the house literally moaned as one as he announced that Anthony Warlow had pulled muscles in his right leg and would be unable to go on. Worse, the understudy was not fully rehearsed and so a full performance of the show would not be possible. A thirty minute presentation was proffered to an audience very well softened up by the charismatic producer, the director Des MacAnuff and the star himself – and the house was clearly packed to the gills with Warlow fans."
