This August, WLIW21, New York Public Television rolls out the red carpet for some of Broadway's best.
First, Tony and Grammy award-winner Robert Goulet sings "If Ever I Would Leave You" (from Camelot) and "The Impossible Dream" (from Man From La Mancha) as host of "My Music: 50s Pop Parade" (premiering Sunday, August 5 at 9:30 am and 7:30 pm). On Wednesday, August 8 at 7:30 pm, filmmaker Rick McKay will be live in the WLIW studio with behind-the-scenes stories about the making of Broadway: The Golden Age and its upcoming sequels. During WLIW's premiere he'll recount his experiences interviewing more than 100 of Broadway's brightest stars, including Goulet, Carousel's John Raitt (1945), The Pajama Game's Shirley MacLaine (1954), The Music Man's Barbara Cook (1957), Mame's Angela Lansbury (1966) and Company's Elaine Stritch (1970).
On Monday, August 13 at 9 pm, Riverdance's original vocal group Anúna makes their public television debut in "ANÚNA: Celtic Origins." Group members Alice Gildea and Ian Curran will be live in the WLIW studio for this special premiere with details on a special opportunity to see Anúna's October concert at New York City's Town Hall and attend an exclusive post-concert meet & greet. And, Irish tenor Ciarán Sheehan and Gay Willis will be live in the WLIW studio for a special presentation of "From Galway to Broadway" (Saturday, August 11 at 8 pm) with details on a special ticket offer before they go on sale to see them in "The Magic of Christmas" concert at Carnegie Hall!
