WHITE LILIES to Make World Premiere at 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival
JC Best and André Cazenave star in the psychological two-hander, written and directed by Rush Z.
Aina Theatre Company, a new theater company founded by artists of color, will world premiere White Lilies, a new psychological two-hander written and directed by Rush Z, as part of the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival on June 11th, 2026.
On the anniversary of their mother's death, two brothers find themselves alone together for the first time in years. Mike (JC Best) is a sociologist who deals in facts, patterns, and proof. Shawn (André Cazenave) is a playwright who lives in what cannot be explained. What begins as an argument about parenting and control unravels into something far more unsettling when Shawn reveals he witnessed something impossible - a chair levitating in his room. As their reality begins to fracture, the question becomes: how do you love someone whose truth you cannot accept?
"At one level, this is a story about wanting to be accepted as our authentic selves by those who love us most - and the lengths we're willing to go for that acceptance," said writer-director Rush Z. "But beyond that, it's an exploration of what happens when we see each other as disjointed but manageable parts rather than a messy, ever-changing whole. We are living through a crisis that is political, but also deeply spiritual - and this play is a meditation on what happens when that contradiction starts to buckle under its own weight."
Aina Theatre Company was founded with a singular mission: to center stories by and about people from the global majority - and to tell them in a way that speaks to audiences of all backgrounds. White Lilies is the company's inaugural production.
The production features JC Best as Mike and André Cazenave as Shawn, with an original score by Sashi Poola.
