Video: Inside Bringing FOSSE AND VERDON, THE DUET THAT CHANGED BROADWAY To Holland America Line

Noah Fosse outlines how education, authenticity, and strategic alignment shaped the Verdon Fosse Legacy’s partnership with RWS Global and Holland America Line.

By: Oct. 20, 2025

The Verdon Fosse Legacy and RWS Global have partnered to bring new live productions inspired by the work of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon to international audiences, beginning with "Fosse and Verdon, The Duet That Changed Broadway," scheduled to debut in November 2025 aboard Holland America Line’s Koningsdam.

The production draws from titles including "Damn Yankees," "Sweet Charity," "Cabaret," and "Chicago," with choreography reconstructed by The Verdon Fosse Legacy and choreographed by Dylis Croman and Alyssa Epstein, and will incorporate archival audio and video on a 270-degree surround screen.

Speaking about how the Legacy selects partners and projects, Executive Director of The Verdon Fosse® Legacy Noah Fosse said, "The first thing we care about most is strategic alignment," adding that "the number one priority is education. People have to know who my grandparents were."

Fosse emphasized that authenticity governs decision-making. "We hold many things close to chest because authenticity and the quality of the work is the most important thing to Bob and to Gwen and to us today," he said. On the new show’s fidelity to source material, he observed, "Watching this show, that authenticity really comes through."

Asked for a single moment that captures the spirit of the work, Fosse pointed to a signature number. "It’s ‘Dancin’ Man.’ That is… it’s iconic," he said, noting the team’s focus on presenting material "in the original form and keeping it true to the source."

On why the material continues to resonate, Fosse described the catalogue as a coherent body of work supported by careful stewardship and education. He said that when "you have quality partners that are willing to engage and preserve the legacy," the opportunities for programming are broad, provided that "they all learn from the direct sources that were there in the room" and that partners are chosen carefully "to be able to pull off feats like this."

Fosse also framed the new production around the creative partnership at its core. "The work was a duet, as the title stands. The work is a collaborative partnership. It’s a love story," he said. Reflecting on the importance of that collaboration, he added, "One versus another, they’re not as strong as when they’re together," citing "Big Deal" on Broadway as an example: "Big Deal did not last very long and he didn’t have Gwen by his side."

The production will soon debut on The Koningsdam, a Pinnacle-class cruise ship by Holland America Line. Launched in 2016, it was the first of its class and is known for its blend of classic elegance and modern design, with a capacity of around 2,650 passengers.
