Vesturport Theatre Co Presents FAUST At The Young Vic Sept 27- Pct 9
Iceland's trailblazing Vesturport Theatre Company bursts onto the Young Vic stage with this wildly inventive new show, co-produced with Reykjavik City Theatre.
This thrilling, circus-inspired UK premiere is co-written and directed by Gísli Örn Garðarsson (Romeo and Juliet, Young Vic; Woyzeck, Young Vic/Barbican; Metamorphosis, Lyric Hammersmith) with music by renowned musicians Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. The universal tale of a man selling his soul to the devil has never been imagined quite like this before. With the action spilling across trapeze, stage and a net suspended above the stalls, this exhilarating performance engulfs the audience in a daring and romantic interpretation of the Faust story.Loud, fast, explosive, poetic and acrobatic, Vesturport's production is hilarious and terrifying with a score ranging from devilish glam-rock to soulful ballads.Listings information 25 September - 30 October 2010Tickets and information 020 7922 2922 www.youngvic.orgTimesMonday - Saturday (excl. 14 October) 7:45pm

Audio described performance Wednesday 27 October 7:45pmOn Ageing The Maria 27 September to 9 October‘We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, sometimes in another. We grow unevenly.' Anaïs NinFrom pioneering company Fevered Sleep (The Forest, Young Vic/ tour; An Infinite Line: Brighton, The Basement) comes the premiere of a bold new devised piece, performed by children for adults, with a choir aged 65 and over. From the moment we're born, through babyhood, childhood, teenage years and adulthood, we are growing, changing; ageing. Nothing ever stays the same. As we journey through life we carry with us hundreds of events, memories and things - objects that tie us to people and places, objects that we no longer want but somehow need.
With playful energy, wry humour and brutal honesty, On Ageing builds a landscape of words and images, to explore living as a journey of endless change. As an empty room fills with memories, a group of extraordinary performers creates a portrait of a lifetime over the course of a show.
For the last eighteen months, Fevered Sleep has explored the process of getting older, by collaborating with artists, experts in the biology and psychology of age and ageing, and by listening to people old and young. On Ageing captures those fleeting moments and memories when we feel most alive to mark the process of ageing throughout our lives, and our place in the changing world.
