Performer Heather Dowling is bringing her award-winning solo-show, Unemployed. Finally. to New York City as part of the United Solo Festival on 42nd Street - the world's largest solo theatre festival - on October 19th. Dowling's show has been invited back on stage many times in Los Angeles, CA since the show's premiere in the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival. At Fringe, Dowling performed 6 sold-out shows, won the Producers' Encore Award and was nominated for Best Solo Performance, out of more than 80 shows.

Unemployed. Finally. is the story of a woman who tried on more than 30 jobs in 30 years before finally doing what everyone said she couldn't. As Dowling says, she is an actress and writer who impersonated someone who wanted a "real job" since she was 14. Accomplished solo-performer and director, Jessica Lynn Johnson, who has performed award winning solo work for more than 10 years, refined Dowling's performance, helping her craft the 70-minute story spanning those 30 years, bringing nearly 40 different characters to life.

"Dowling is so appealing and the material unquestionably relatable that her 'everywoman' story absolutely stands on its own without propping of any kind," said Tracey Paleo, of Gia on the Move.

"The sheer volume of carefully-constructed characters Heather plays is incredible," said Kincaid Walker from ISeeTheFrog.com"Dowling is an acting and writing force to be reckoned with."

This past year, Unemployed. Finally. has been a part of Beyond Encores for Theatre Asylum in Hollywood, on stage for Whitefire Theatre's 6th Annual Solofest - the largest solo festival on the West Coast - and then invited for a 6-week run at the popular venue. Before that, the show was also as part of Theatre Unleashed's Spotlight Series, and Cake Batter's Funny Women Festival at IO West, Hollywood.

"All of these wonderful opportunities to perform have brought a fine polish to the show, for sure." Dowling says. "This is a genuine, funny, and sometimes sad story about a woman who comes to a point in life where she has the courage to go for what she wants. And I'm inviting others to consider that, no matter what they've been through, no matter what their journey has looked like, they really can newly create the life they want, a life they love."

The curtain goes up for Unemployed. Finally. at 9:00 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 19th as part of United Solo.
