Under the Microscope Presents 30,000 NOTES at Adelaide Fringe

30,000 Notes is a 2019 Adelaide Fringe production by Under the Microscope in which an audience of just 32 patrons per performance will be immersed in a room covered in local playwright, composer, performer and multidisciplinary artist Josh Belperio's lifetime of handwritten notes, diary entries, musical scores, shopping lists and other detritus he has hoarded over the years.

In this indefinable theatrical experience that sits at the intersection of a play and a classical music concert, Josh takes you through the bizarre things he has written down and the music he has composed, and from that, a story emerges - one of finding love, of finding who we can love, and how we can carry with us those who are no longer here.

30,000 Notes will have its world premiere season at the 2019 Adelaide Fringe from 19 February to 16 March (Tues-Sat at 9pm every week) at nthspace Adelaide 31-33 North St, Adelaide (formerly a BMG Gallery space).

30,000 Notes is 1 of 15 new productions to receive an Adelaide Fringe Artist Fund Grant this year. The production is also mentored by Carl Crossin OAM (music) and Emily Steel (writing), and funded by two Helpmann Academy Grants.

30,000 Notes features an innovative technical design wherein the audience will be asked to put on headphones and listen to a bespoke virtual choir of 16 sing, accompanied by Amicus Strings, all of which is presented in binaural audio. Josh's music will be complemented with a projection design comprised of his Nonna's VHS home movies which will take the audience through his personal inspiration behind the music.

Additionally, Even More Notes is a free visual art exhibition at the 2019 Adelaide Fringe that features 30,000 Notes' raw and honest set design. Wade through photos, letters, goals, realisations and everything that makes up a life. From 22 February to 16 March (Fri-Sat from 1pm-5pm every week) at nthspace Adelaide 31-33 North St, Adelaide.
