Award-winning American film and stage star Brian Dennehy will make his West End stage debut starring as 'Willy Loman' on Monday 16 May, following previews from 10 May, for a limited six-month season.

This production, which was originally presented by the Goodman Theatre in Chicago in 1998, transferred to Broadway the following year where it won five Tony Awards including 'Best Revival', 'Best Direction' and 'Best Actor' for Brian Dennehy. Brian Dennehy is perhaps best known for his work in feature films including Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet", "Presumed Innocent", "F/X", "Legal Eagles", "Cocoon", "Gorky Park" and "First Blood". His Broadway stage work includes Brian Friel's "Translations", Peter Brook's production of "The Cherry Orchard" and, recently, starring opposite Vanessa Redgrave in "Long Day's Journey into Night" directed by Robert Falls, for which he won a second Tony Award for 'Best Actor'. He won the Golden Globe Award for his performance in the American televised version of "Death of a Salesman".

Award-winning actress Clare Higgins will star as 'Linda Loman' opposite Brian Dennehy. She has recently been seen on the London stage in "Hecuba" and "Vincent in Brixton". Douglas Henshall and Mark Bazeley will play Loman's sons 'Biff' and 'Happy'. Howard Witt will repeat his Broadway performance as 'Charley'. The cast of 18 also includes Steve Pickering as 'Howard' and Allen Hamilton as 'Uncle Ben' (both reprising their Broadway roles), Jonathan Aris as 'Bernard', Samantha Coughlan as 'Miss Forsythe', Eleanor Howell as 'Letta' and Abigail McKern as 'The Woman'.

The West End production of "Death of a Salesman" will be staged by the entire original Chicago and Broadway creative team. Scenic design is by Mark Wendland, costume design by Birgit Rattenborg Wise, lighting by Michael Philippi and original music and sound by Richard Woodbury. "DEATH OF A SALESMAN" is directed by Robert Falls, who won a Tony Award for this production.

Performance times at the Lyric Theatre are Tuesdays-Saturdays at 7.45pm, with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets, priced from £18.50-£43.50, are available from the Lyric Theatre Box Office on 0870 890 1107.

"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" will be presented in London by David Richenthal, Anthony D. Marshall and Charlene Marshall for Delphi Productions.
