After last week's East Village explosion, building collapse and fire, Theater for the New City is offering neighbors displaced by the disaster free clothing from its costume collection.

The free clothing includes "costume" streetwear such as coats, jackets and other items.

According to an announcement on Facebook, those seeking help should call 212-254-1109 to make an appointment if they qualify.

TNC wrote: "Our thoughts are prayers go out to these individuals and families in this difficult time."

On March 26, The New York Times reported that "a powerful explosion" caused one building on Second Avenue to collapse and started "a large fire that engulfed a neighboring building". The buildings are located at 121 and 123 Second Avenue near East Seventh Street, where Con Edison had been doing some kind of construction work.

The Public Theater's HAMILTON and JOSEPHINE AND I were forced to cancel their performances that evening due to poor air quality, and STOMP went dark the whole weekend.
