The New York appearances of this visionary director and her Teatro Dramma, though rare, are always a cause for celebration.

Director ELIA SCHNEIDER, born in Israel, raised in Venezuela and now an American citizen, creates hauntingly visual productions that transcend language with strong imagery and a dreamlike fresco of movement and design. Her productions are renowned for the clarity of their imagery, the pungency of their atmosphere, the precision of their casts and the extremely high caliber of their production values.

"Citizens of the Gray" is a largely nonverbal play with tango music and stark, gorgeous imagery that explores how the relationship between man and woman has evolved throughout the years and how this relationship has become a struggle for power; a fight to the death where there can be only one winner.

This is a work in the theatrical tradition of Robert Wilson, Pina Bausch and Tadeusz Kantor.

Music includes tangos by Osvaldo Montes, a renowned Argentine composer, that were written expressly for this production. Tango choreography by Erika Baena.
