In February 2013, The Theatre Project will present Cold Reads, a new play development lab. Featuring 4 new plays by 4 playwrights in reading workshops over the course of 4 weeks, Cold Reads workshops and promotes contemporary theatrical productions.

The Theatre Project's Cold Reads Series seeks to develop these 4 new plays and produce them both Off and Off-Off-Broadway. For each reading workshop, the audience and a panel with top industry professionals - commercial producers, general managers and artistic directors - will vote on the plays in Cold Reads and discuss the further development of the show that is read. Based on the voting results, the 4 plays will follow separate development tracks.

The winning play will be awarded a 5 month development spa through The Theatre Project followed by a Off-Broadway limited engagement at The historic Players Theatre. The other three plays will be workshopped through The Theatre Project’s and featured in the company’s new Off-Off-Broadway Micro-Festival.

The Theatre Project is dedicated to the production and promotion of ground-breaking modern theatre. As a new play development organization, we take pride in contributing towards the upbringing of the great plays of tomorrow. Our productions are created through a fine tuned aesthetic—an open platform—in order to aggregate a theatrical event that defies the normal convention.
